  3. Your email address

How do I change my group size after I’ve registered?

Liaisons should use the ‘make changes’ link on their MySSP home page to either add or drop spots. In either case, be sure to go through all the necessary screens to ensure your changes have been saved on our system.

Adding spots: You’ll be asked to submit a deposit via card to reserve each additional spot for your group. If your session is full, you can request to be placed on a waitlist.

Dropping spots: If your group needs to drop spots, please note all payments are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Drops should be made prior to a payment due date in order to avoid being charged for subsequent payments. Payments previously paid for dropped spots are forfeited, and cannot be applied towards the remainder of a group’s balance. Groups that decrease in size after a payment due date still owe the payments for those dropped spots, and will be charged the full balance incurred as of the due date.

My group registered for more spots than we were able to fill. Are we still responsible for paying for those spots?

All payments are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

If your group is unable to attend at all, please call or email the office to let us know as soon as possible so we can make any necessary payment arrangements, and plan for those spaces being available.

One or more of my registered youth needs to switch between the multiple groups I have registered. How do I make this change?

Please call (916) 488-6441 or email Veronica Russell to coordinate any volunteer transfers between groups.

My group has young adults (graduated high school, but under 23) who want to attend with our youth group. Can they participate?

As a youth?

No. Many of our SSP staff are young adults that fall between the ages of 18 – 23. Having program participants who may be the same age or older than our staff can be distracting and detract from the experience. We cap attendance for youth at those who have just completed their senior year in high school. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact Veronica Russell.

As an adult counselor?

No. SSP sets the age limit for counselors at a minimum of 23 for several reasons:

  1. The role requires a large amount of responsibility and leadership. Counselors must be established in their youth’s eyes as a leader or adult figure, not as a peer.
  2. Serving as an SSP counselor requires driving every day during the session. For liability reasons, anyone under 23 will be unable to drive youth during their time at SSP.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact Veronica Russell.

As a Staff-In-Training or Summer Staff?

Yes! If you have young adults who are serious about furthering their service experience with SSP, encourage them to look into our Staff-In-Training (SIT) or summer staff programs. Please note that SIT’s are not placed at the same site and session as their home church. This makes the transition from peer to leader much easier for individuals and their groups. Visit our SIT and staff pages, and contact Megan Walsh for more information.

As an Intergenerational Team Member!

Yes! SSP has always encouraged healthy relationships between people of different ages. We all have a wealth of unique experiences, which benefit the greater community when shared with others.

We are thrilled to offer Intergenerational sessions, open to volunteers entering 6th grade and older. Over the years, we have received requests for adult, college-age, or staff alumni trips, and look forward to this program.

Adult groups, college groups, staff alumni, families, youth groups, and groups with a mix in ages are all welcome to participate at intergenerational sessions. Youth volunteers entering 9th grade or higher may sign up as individuals if they wish, as can individual adults. Anyone 18 years or older attending this program must undergo a national criminal background screening before June 1st.

We ask that anyone attending this program keep an open mind – it will not be a traditional SSP week! There will be volunteers of all ages present, as well as a mixed level of SSP experience.

How do I prepare my group to attend?

Download SSP’s program packets.

With our handy-dandy preparation packets! All instructions on how to best prepare your group for your SSP trip can be found in the packet, so it is important to read it fully and thoroughly.

Watch the SSP Invitation Video and read more about the location where you will be serving.
