Sierra Service Project (SSP) is an ecumenical Christian nonprofit organization. We invite high school, middle school, young adult, and intergenerational participants to join our young adult summer staff in exploring faith, building bridges between communities, and having fun right where we are. Learn about our 2021 summer program. Meet the SSP team, learn about our theology, and our 46 year history working with young people and community partners across the Western US. SSP’s mission is:
“Build faith and strengthen communities through service to others.”
Online Summer Staff & Staff-in-Training
We are hiring 10 to 12 young adult staff to lead our online summer program, including two new positions: Activities Coordinator and Media Coordinator! We are honoring our employment commitments to 2020 summer staff first. If you have not served on staff before, we invite you to add your name to the waitlist, and apply to be a Staff-in-Training (SIT). If you have served as an SIT before, we encourage you to join us again in 2021 as an SIT, or participate in the online program as a young adult.

As we celebrate a challenging but successful 2020, we’re also looking ahead – not just to 2021, but to ongoing efforts toward making SSP a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive space for all our participants and community partners.
With our board of directors, we have laid out a comprehensive five-year vision, with goals pertaining to staff and volunteer training, restorative practices, representation in our leadership, and more.
“By having a diverse community of participants and leaders, communities are made stronger and individuals are empowered to live out their faith as agents of change for hope.”
– Excerpt from our 2025 Vision for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at SSP
To make steps towards making our vision a reality by 2025, our 50th year of service, we need your input now! Anyone in the SSP community is invited to share feedback on our diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts. Whether a volunteer, staff, parent, homeowner, community partner, donor, alum, board member, or connected to SSP in some other way, we’d like to hear from you. Please complete the DEI survey.
